Cross County Center

Project Description

Between 2012 and 2016, Cross County Center, one of the nation’s earliest open-air shopping centers, embarked on a major modernization program. This multi-year initiative involved significant renovations to existing structures, upgrades to common areas, and the introduction of new retail and dining establishments. Given the age of many buildings within the center, ensuring environmental safety, particularly regarding potential asbestos-containing materials (ACMs), was a paramount concern. IPR Associates & Environmental was engaged to deliver crucial Asbestos Inspection and Third-Party Air Monitoring services throughout this transformative period.

Our team conducted comprehensive asbestos surveys across various parts of the shopping center targeted for renovation or upgrades. We performed detailed inspections, sampled materials, and provided thorough hazard assessments. This critical groundwork allowed the management and construction teams to develop and implement work plans that prioritized safety and adhered strictly to all regulatory requirements for handling ACMs, ensuring that modernization efforts could proceed without compromising health.

During all phases of construction and any necessary abatement, IPR Associates & Environmental provided independent, third-party air monitoring. Operating within a busy, open-air shopping environment demanded rigorous oversight. We ensured that robust containment measures were effective and that the air quality remained safe for the thousands of daily shoppers, retail employees, and construction workers, providing continuous monitoring and clearance testing to verify the safety of the environment.
